                 Fees

Click here for latest Fee information

There are six payment dates during the School Year with most payments covering six weeks of training except the Summer Prep Season, which begins after Spring Break and is a nine-week period.  The Fall/Winter Short Course Season will conclude with the Illinois Championship Meet in mid-March.  However, at the conclusion of the Short Course Season, our training level simply continues as we prepare for the Long Course Season (which begins in April) and the local Summer Rec League that is called the Twin Cities Swim Conference (TCSC). The only break throughout the season is Spring Break, which is not included in your fees. The fees are listed above, and we will also post notices prior to the due dates on the website.  This season we are accessing a $10 late fee if payment isn’t received within 5 days after the due date.  Unfortunately, this is necessary because we had a lot of additional payroll hours added last season, just to collect tuition and late meet fees. Meet entry fees are due prior to the first day of the swim meet.  Fees will not be adjusted because of sickness or injury. ISI registration is required for all training groups practicing at ISI.  You can obtain an ISI form from their website at www.ilswim.org or we will have some available at McCormick.  There is a $60 annual athletic fee that goes directly to Illinois Swimming, Inc., is required for swimmers in all groups training at ISU, and does provide membership with USA swimming and supplemental accident insurance. We will collect the ISI fees (and ISI registration form) immediately from the new families and our existing families in December by 12/1/07 since their current membership is current through 12/31/07.

Discounts:  We offer a 10% sibling discount for team members (not combined with the lesson program). We do not mail bills, but always post reminder notices on the website.  You may drop your check in the payment bin at McCormick/Metcalf during practice, or mail to the SA office at 510 E. Washington Street, Bloomington, 61701.

Meet Fees:  There are meet entry fees, typically $3.00 per event and $1.75 per relay, and a $2.00 surcharge. All meet fees (and events) are posted on the website. RKSA must prepay all meet fees in advance when we submit the meet entries (usually 30-45 days in advance of the meet), so payment for the fees is expected prior to the first day of the meet or a $10 late fee will be assessed. Once we submit the entries, if you become sick or cannot attend for any reason, the host team will NOT issue a refund so you are responsible for the fees.

Summer Rec Meets:   There is generally one swim meet a week. If you are not going to be able to attend the meet you much sign out on the website or you're signed up for the rec league dual meets - You must sign out for each swim meet you will miss due to vacations or conflicts, or you will be entered in the meet. Sign out dates are approximately 10-14 days prior to a meet which allows the coaches time to set up the meets. With over 100 swimmers, it is quite a time consuming process. Please do not send emails regarding your swimmers’ attendance. The website account was set up specifically for the team entries, so we can keep all of the communication in one area. If someone becomes sick the day of the meet, please contact Janell, or McCormick office 438-2672 to notify us of the change. It is disappointing when a relay has to be scratched because one swimmer did not show up when the other swimmers were expecting him/her to be there. Because we have had problems with last minute changes, often times we will post the ‘individual events’ but will wait ‘til the day prior to the meet to organize the relays. Historically, we have last minute changes because of sicknesses or accidents. And, once we print the line-ups, everything must be changed if we have a ‘scratch’. (the meet program, the bullpen cards, positive check-in sheets, the scoring sheet, etc.) So, even if we post a meet program, it may change once you get to the meet, if someone doesn’t show up. We try to avoid ALL changes, since it affects so many people - coaches, and volunteers, and of course the swimmers. When coaches arrive at a swim meet, their job is to warm-up the kids to prepare them for the meet. Numerous last minute changes in the line-up can delay the start of the meet and can cause a lot of unnecessary stress on the coaches and volunteers.

Registration:  You may enroll in our program at any time given there is room in your training group.  If you decide to take a break, re-entry is not automatically guaranteed unless you are swimming on a high school team, and return immediately at the conclusion of the HS season.  All fees for high school swimmers are pro-rated since IHSA rules indicate you cannot practice with your USA team during your high school season. Please notify us via email/website when you will be dropping, or coming back from the high school season, so we can calculate the amount due.

EquipmentBased on the number of swimmers in our program and limited supply of equipment, we are having the athletes be responsible for their own equipment. Most swimmers purchased their training equipment this summer and will not need anything additional.  At the beginning part of the session (second or third week), we will put in an order for the new families if you want to order the equipment thru RKSA.  (Sometimes you can find an athletic mesh bag which will suffice for the equipment bag to save that expense.) We will post the prices on our website.  Janell will be in contact with the new families who may need equipment, and the previous families can send her an email if you have any equipment questions.  Rksa.meetentry@gmail.com

The required equipment is:

Developmental: Fins, Kick board, and Equipment bag
Bronze:
Fins, Kick board, Equipment bag, Pull Buoys, and Paddles
Silver:
Fins, Kick board, Equipment bag, Pull Buoy, Paddle, and Heart rate card
Gold:
Fins, Kick board, Equipment bag, Pull Buoy, Paddle, Heart rate card, and Goal sheet.

Swim Suites: All swimmer must wear a “racing” suit. This means that two-piece and trunk are not allowed for practice or meets. A team suit is an optional expense. However, and solid color suit is acceptable. Boys should not wear long loose-fitting trunks to practice or the meets.

Swim caps: These are required for swimmers with hair that interferes with breathing and vision while swimming. Some of the boys practice and compete in swim caps as well. RKSA swim caps are required at all competitions; however, contact merchandise chairperson, Sandi Remmes if you need a cap @ msdrj.remmes@verizon.net

Parking Pass: $25 per ISU semester.  Purchase passes at ISU Parking Services on North Main Street (north of U-High).  If you opt to feed the meters, be careful, because they do ticket. There is convenient metered parking just outside McCormick Pool, but the maximum time is 30 minutes (30 cents). If you swim at McCormick and don’t want to get a pass, there is ‘pay as you go’ parking on the first floor of the deck just northeast of the tennis courts.

Fundraising/Volunteer Hours:  There is no fundraising required at this point. However, we are a 501-C3 nonprofit corporation, so if your company offers a Grant Program, there are plenty of service hours available especially during the summer TCSC. Contact us through the website if you are interested in helping, or making a tax deductible contribution.  .

Most all swim meets we attend will require some volunteer timers, so we’ll call on all of our families to share that responsibility. During the School Year period, families are required to work two swim meets. We will need a lot of volunteers to help run our home meet in December. During the summer, all families were required to work four swim meets (or both parents work 2 meets) in order to be part of the Team. If you did not fulfill your summer requirement, we will call on you first, before asking the other families.  We were extremely proud of our organized parent involvement this summer, and look forward to the USA Season.  Julie Anderson is our Head Parent Volunteer. You may contact her @ andersonpainting@verizon.net
